Foothills Venture Crews:
Let’s GO Backpacking! Use your “new” Backpacking Stove “you” made!

When: Sat., March 20 – Sun., March 21, 2010
Meet at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 8:30AM(2281 Canton Hwy,
Marietta, GA 30066) and we will caravan to the Trailhead
Where: NC section of the Appalachian Trail

We will start at Deep Gap in North Carolina, which is over 4000ft. Then we will climb up Yellow Mountain to a beautiful view to the north at 4800ft. Next climb down to a nice campsite at Muscrat Creek, where there is a stream for filtering, a shelter, pit toilets, and a side trail to Ravenrock Cliff, where there is a beautiful view to the southwest. From Deep Gap to Muscrat Creek is 4 miles. The side trail is 0.6 miles one way.
So, basically, we will be Backpacking 4 miles in and 4 miles out, plus the side trail without a pack.
