Training for range officer certification will be held Saturday June 12 at 9:00 am at the First United Methodist Church, 56 Whitlock Ave., Marietta, GA.

Successfully completing this training will qualify you to serve as a range officer for Cub Scout BB and Archery activities. These are very popular activities for our Cubs, and range officers are always in demand. Space is limited.

Cost: $10 (fee is waived if you volunteer for Foothils Day Camp, June 14-18)

Youth safety is the No. 1 concern of the BSA.

To increase awareness of this societal problem and to create even greater barriers to abuse than already exist today in Scouting, the Boy Scouts of America is implementing several important changes to further enhance its Youth Protection policies:

Effective June 1, 2010:

The Unit Leader Award of Merit replaces the Scoutmaster, Varsity Team Coach, and Venturing Crew Advsior award of merit programs. This new recognition has revised requirements (attached) and may be earned by Cubmasters as well.

The award is presented for each program, if the individual meets the requirements in each program. Only one knot is worn with the devices of each program that the award was earned in.

Turn in all Leadership Knot forms to Tom Morin for processing. Awards will be returned at Roundtable.
