BSA Lifeguard & Red Cross Lifeguard Course

07/18/2008 - 6:30pm
07/20/2008 - 5:00pm

Where: Bert Adams

General Information:

BSA and Red Cross require a minimum of 30 hours of instruction, so both weekends will be required for certification. Each participant must pass both written and applied tests of skills to qualify for the BSA Lifeguard and all Red Cross certificates. Attendance alone does not guarantee you will earn these certifications.

Participants will camp together. Bring your own personal gear, or use one of the Bert Adams platform tents. Participants should bring bathing suits, towels, hat, sun block, insect repellant and clothing suitable for camp and classroom comfort. Bring a good flashlight or headlamp and extra batteries. Bring a notebook and pencils/pens.

Participants will be required to open their eyes underwater. We strongly discourage contact lenses. If you must wear contacts, bring goggles to use in the lake. You must bring goggles, snorkel, and fins for the snorkeling portion of instruction, which will be taught on the second weekend. If you don't have these items, please borrow them from a friend before you come.

The course director will provide you with more information prior to the first weekend.

Lifesaving Merit Badge is not a prerequisite, but can be completed during this course at no additional cost. Please make arrangements in advance with the course director, read the current Lifesaving Merit Badge book, and bring it to the course.

Register on-line at the Camp Allatoona web site www.campallatoona.org. At the time you make your reservation, you must also pay online using either a credit card (MasterCard, Visa, or Discover) or an electronic check (e-check).
