In Memoriam: Bill Barber
We are saddened by the passing of longtime Cobb County Scouter Bill Barber, who passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008. Bill was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts, and a was a fixture for many years in the Colossal Cobb and Foothills District. Bill was admired by all who knew him, and he leaves behind many, many friends in the Scouting community.
AAC Camp Good Turn Days
The Atlanta Area Council needs volunteers to help with several maintenance and improvement projects along with general cleanup at each of our camps. These special workdays are an excellent opportunity to do a good turn for the camp and to enjoy fellowship with other Scouters. Please plan on joining the team!
Flyers and Handouts
Listed below are downloadable copies of flyers and handouts that have been distributed via the Chickensheet and at Roundtable.
If you have a flyer or handout you would like to distribute to the Foothills district, please submit it here.

Scout Sabbath

02/09/2008 - 11:59pm
The Saturday after February 8, Scouting Anniversary Day, Scout Sabbath offers an opportunity for worshippers to honor Scouts and Scouters, as well as to learn more themselves about the value of Scouting as a youth program chartered to a Jewish organization. It gives a rabbi a framework to address Scouts directly, in addition to speaking about Scouting to the congregation.

The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls before February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting. Family FOS Kickoff
The Family FOS Kickoff is scheduled for Thursday, November 29 at the Troop 795 Scout Lodge. We would like all Unit Leaders (Scoutmasters and Cubmasters), Unit Committee Chairs, and Unit FOS Chairs to participate. We will be discussing district and unit fundraising goals and presenting the steps to ensure an outstanding Friends of Scouting campaign in 2008. Last year, we exceeded our goals despite having one of the highest district goals in the Council. Our new District Chairman is determined to do it again and get us started on the path to the Quality District award!
