Update Your Merit Badge Counselor Lists at May Roundtable

Foothills Boy Scout Troops will be able to complete annual merit badge counselor registration renewals by bringing current merit badge counselor lists to the May 4, 2017 Roundtable. This is the first step in a recently announced process to make the required annual registration renewal easier and more efficient.

Following is the original announcement of the new process:

In order to keep Merit Badge Counselor records more accurate, and to simplify the annual renewal process, districts will now be responsible for working directly with Troops to facilitate annual counselor registration renewals. By national policy, Merit Badge Counselors must be registered with the Council and must renew their registration annually.

Please have your Troop's advancement representative contact Martin Smith, District Advancement Chair, to make an appointment to review your Merit Badge Counselor registrations for 2017. Please have a list of those people who are registered as Merit Badge Counselors. This must be completed before the end of February. If you have any questions feel free to contact Martin Smith or David Jaracz. Going forward all Merit Badge Counselors will be signed off annually by the District Advancement Chair. There will be no more emails or postcards from the Atlanta Area Council.

Please also remember that Youth Protection Training must be kept current to remain registered in any Scouting position, including Merit Badge Counselor. If your training lapses you will need to fill out a new application to renew your registration. Please don't let that happen.
