More Info: Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scout Troops in order to be considered “trained”.
Are you interested in joining a Scouts BSA Girl Troop and live in Foothills District (Northeast Cobb)? Then check out one or both of these new scout troops that are forming as we speak! Foothills District is heading full steam ahead in forming Scout BSA Troops for Girls to operate right along side the existing Troops for Boys. You could be one of the founding and key members at one of these units! Both of these newly forming units are having info nights coming up. You can attend one or both to hear about the program that each unit plans to offer. This is a great opportunity to meet the leadership, ask questions, and learn more about the adventures and opportunities that scouting has to offer! Don’t miss out, now’s the perfect time to come and sign up so your scouts can start getting ready for Summer Camp 2020!

Foothills would like to congratulate Troop 2319 from Unity North Atlanta! Troop 2319 was the only unit in the entire Foothills District to earn the Order of the Arrow Unit of Excellence in 2019 and one of only 3 units in the entire Atlanta Area Council. In fact, less than 1% of units national receive the OA Unit of Excellence Award each year! Thank you guys for stepping up and support and promoting the National Honor Society of Scouting. As a chapter, we appreciate your support and look forward to more units promoting the OA in 2020.
For more information about the OA Unit of Excellence, you can check out OA-BSA.org. If you’re another unit in Foothills District and want to work towards the OA Unit of Excellence in 2020 and have question, feel free to email the Kennesaw Chapter Adviser at [email protected].

Good Evening Foothills Leaders –
The Marietta After School Scouting Program (MASSP) will hold its Second Annual Campout on Friday, November 22 at Marietta First United Methodist Church. MASSP Scouts and their families will arrive to MFUMC on Friday starting around 5:30pm and will leave after breakfast on Saturday morning around 7:30am.
Last year, over 100 Scouts and families attended the inaugural campout. Most of the families who attended experienced camping for the first time! It was a huge success due to Troop 277 /Pack 277, Marietta First United Methodist Church, and numerous volunteers helping.
We need volunteers to make this happen again this year!
We have several opportunities to volunteer and need volunteers (Scouts BSA age or adults only, please no Cub age) who can assist with one role or multiple roles.
Volunteer Opportunities:
If you, a Scout, or adults are willing to assist or would like information, please reply to this email.
We also are in need of some tents to borrow for the evening. If you and/or your unit is willing to lend tents for the night, please let me know.
Thank you all for what you do for the Scouts in Foothills and all of metro Atlanta!
Yours In Scouting,
Jacque

We apologize for the short notice but will need to cancel the District Committee Meeting scheduled for tonight.
This district would like to extend congratulations to all our new Order of the Arrow Members! This past weekend, OA Kennesaw Chapter had 14 candidates complete their Ordeal to become members in the Order of the Arrow. We made up 20% of all candidates at this weekend’s induction, so way to go! We also had 10 existing members attend this weekend who helped out as Elangomats as well as on the camp-wide service projects. All in all, we completed over 450 hours of service for Bert Adams which equates to over a month’s worth of work for the camp rangers had they had to do it all on their own. You can check out some pictures by clicking on the image collage below.
