OA Kennesaw Chapter Outing

We had a great turn out even though I know there were some scouts who wanted to come who were unable to. Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun, so I definitely think this will be an event that the chapter holds again!  Click the collage below to see the full album and don’t forget, as summer winds down Fall Fellowship and Fall Induction are right around the corner!

Don’t forget, our next chapter meeting is scheduled for next Thursday, August 1st at Maple Ave United Methodist Church beginning at 7:30pm. Check the calendar for more details.

The popcorn sale is the perfect opportunity to teach this valuable life lesson and fund the most exciting year of Scouting ever. Over 70% of the popcorn sale support your programs and local Scouting! The Atlanta Area Council does all the pre-work to set up the sale, eliminating the need for your Unit to research opportunities, calculate returns on sales, create sales and promotional materials, manage a relationship with a vendor, etc. The popcorn sale also helps the council raise money for summer camps, offering more extensive training for our volunteer leaders and members, and creating new and exciting programs for your Scouts.

Scouts gain confidence, salesmanship and communication skills, and a sense of accomplishment. The popcorn sale is not just about selling popcorn; it’s also about promoting Scouting and the Scouting ideals!

Congratulations to Our New OA Members!

The Chapter would like to congratulate all our new members who braved the weather this past weekend up at Woodruff Scout Camp during their Induction weekend! Although we had a fair amount of rain Saturday afternoon and night, over all the weather was pretty good. Our chapter alone had 19 candidates get inducted into the OA and the very first female youth to be inducted in the entire Egwa Tawa Dee Lodge! Congrats everyone, you all deserve it. Check back soon for our sign up for an upcoming Chapter Member only event and in the mean time, check out some pics from this weekend.

Congratulations Troop 287!

The Foothills District would like to extend a congratulations and thanks to Troop 287 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They had a Charter Charging Ceremony to celebrate their 31 years in scouting and 104 Eagle Scouts! Back in 1987, several leaders migrated from Troop 75 at Transfiguration Catholic Church to establish Troop 287’s new charter at St. Joseph’s. Roy Lea played a pivotal role in establishing the new troop and he and Phyllis Lea’s sons, Bryan and Greg were both in attendance with their mother. They are the 1st and 4th Eagle Scouts in the troop. Along the back row are all the scoutmasters since the unit was founded and up front are as many of the Eagles as were able to attend. Congrats and thank for all you do!
