September Hot Topic: Kristin Sliger, Camping Director for the Atlanta Area Council, will lead the Hot Topic discussion on camping and programs at Beert, Woodruff, and Allatoona.

Breakouts: The Cub Family will focus on Cub Family Camping. Topics to discuss will be gear, requirements, planning, and menus.

Troop breakout topic is planning a fun and entertaining campout and choosing a camp.

Come join us for 4 days filled with RANGE & TARGET SPORTS, CRAFTS, GAMES, STEM, RANK SPECIFIC ADVENTURES, and some good old OUTDOOR FUN!

Our camp is entirely run by volunteers. Without volunteers, camp is not possible. For every 4 scouts attending, one adult should sign up to volunteer.

The safety of the Scouts and Volunteers is our # I priority.

June Topic: Pikanik: Noun: An outing or occassion by Foothills Roundtable Team that involves taking a packed meal to be eaten outdoors.

In prior years, Scouting organizations in our community place flags at over 18,000 graves of U. S. Military veterans in Marietta National Cemetery. This service project is carried out on the Saturday before Memorial Day. The purpose is help prepare the cemetery for the Memorial Day ceremony that takes place on Monday. In addition to community service, it is an opportunity for youth and adults to learn about and appreciate the service and sacrifice of those who have given their lives in service to their Country. One is also exposed to the rich history of the Marietta area.

The event originated in the former Cobb District of the Atlanta Area Council Boy Scouts of America in cooperation with the National Memorial Day Association of Georgia. Since the 1990’s all Scouting organizations are welcome to participate. The Marietta National Cemetery is in Foothills District of the Atlanta Area Council. Volunteers from Foothills District work with the National Memorial Day Association of Georgia in organizing and hosting the event.

May Topic:
Our May topic is one you will KNOT want to miss! We will spend the evening learning how to tie KNOTS and their use. KNOT tying is a very useful and fun skill for Scouts of all ages. We will also spend some time discussing how to keep our Scouts active over the summer months.

April Topic: Our topic for April is ” Hazardous Weather Training” . The training will be led by Brian Fortier, dad of a Foothills District scout in T433.  Brian works at the Weather Channel and will be assisted by our own trained leaders. Safety for our youth and leaders is very important so please plan on attending.
